Ski Trip!
We had the best time in North Carolina playing in the snow! We headed up to the mountains early Tuesday afternoon after Asia's doctors appointment and headed to Banner Elk N.C. We had a cute one bedroom condo we rented for the days we were there and used only for sleeping, changing, and eating breakfast and late dinners and playing Yahtze. We were outside for the better part of the days. Out East - you're allowed to ski at night! They call it Twilight or Night ski. Depending on the package it limits the hours you get on the slopes. Each time you get to the lift chairs your ski pass is scanned.
We took the Twilight option both days since it gave us more hours on the slopes. It took Sean a few runs to find his sea legs again. It had been years since he had skied. Once he found them he and Scott went off by themselves for a bit and skied together while I taught Asia.
Asia, the minute she got her skis on she wanted to take off. It took me a while to convince her to let me help her. We skied down initially with Asia hanging on to my poles behind me. I made big S turns so she could learn how to control her speed going down the slopes. When we went up the lift the second time, it was all over. She wanted to do it on her own. She took off - and that's exactly what she did.
She snowplowed a bit at first and then all she wanted to do was go fast. By the end of the first day she was really comfortable. The second day, Asia and Sean were sking the blues with me! Sean didn't enjoy skiing the blues as much at first but gradually liked it more and more as his confidence grew. Asia didn't have any fear to begin with and just wanted to go. I think I have a sking buddy in the coming years.
